I have been interested in true crime for as long as I can remember, and in the last 30 years have built up a large collection of books on the subject.  Some years ago I was involved in an amateur publication for which I wrote articles under the name "Crimephile".  Some of these are reproduced here.  I hope that my study of a wide range of cases gives me the necessary breadth of picture to analyse individual ones.

I have now launched a site for my professional writing activities.

I will reply to email, time permitting. If you want to disagree with my opinions, please do so politely. Abusive and insulting letters will be ignored.

Great news!  My book on the history of chloroform is now out! You can now order from Amazon UK. Or pre-order from Amazon USA. There will, as you can imagine, be quite a lot in there on true crime, including details of crimes which have not, as far as I know, appeared in books before, also some fresh analysis of well-known cases. It will include a chapter on the case of Adelaide Bartlett which I have spent three years researching and there will, I promise, be a lot of fresh material!

My next book 'Essex Murders' will be out 13 May 2004. You can order it on Amazon UK

I am now a member of the Crime Writers' Association
